I love a good centerpiece! I usually try to keep them simple and easy to move. My table rarely stays totally clean and especially now with the kids doing their schoolwork there.

This was a cute idea that we did with our first house way back when we first got married. Our first house we bought in February before we were married and worked remodeling it right until a week before we married in Sept. It was the cutest little house in town and we worked so hard getting it fixed up. I had fun decorating that house and my style evolved from lots of color to my favorite neutrals. Of course, being newly married we were on a budget. I guess that’s about the time my husband would go to Trade Day, a local small flea market, every Monday. He would swing by when he got off work to see what he could find. It was fun and he usually always found something. Some pieces I have kept over the years and others I only wish I had still kept.

He found an old drawer one day for only $1.00. It was really narrow and fit great on our coffee table. It had greenery in it for awhile, and then one day I line the bottom with brown felt and planted grass seed in it. It was the cutest little centerpiece for spring.

So a few weeks ago, I had him build me a small narrow box. What did I do?

I planted grass seed in it for my patio outside. It turned out really cute for a spring/summer project.

{Quick Steps}

1. Grab an old drawer or wooden box that is narrow.
2. Line the bottom with a plastic or a trash bag (better if its black)
3. Spread in your dirt
4. Plant your seeds
5. Keep watered

It will take a little while for it to come up and if your like me you may have to re-seed.
